Project Update

The contractor, Hinterland Group, Inc., has reached Substantial Completion on the Southwest Service Area project. Wastewater connections can now be made to the OUA system.

The piping connection from the house to the streetside point of connection can be accomplished in one of three ways:

1. As the property owner you can do the work yourself. You will need to obtain a Building Department permit and a Health Department permit prior to beginning the work; or

2. As the property owner, you can hire someone to do the work for you. Again, both Building & Health Department permits are required; or

3. The OUA will advertise a project to complete this piping work. The OUA will receive bids from licensed contractors, evaluate the bids and make a recommendation of award to one bidder to do all the work. All you will have to do is authorize entry to your property by the contractor and the work will be completed. You can elect to opt out of this work if you choose and proceed with one of the first two options.

The cost to do this work If you chose one of the first two options, the entire cost to connect will be paid by the property owner. With the third option, the OUA will determine the amount of grant funds available for this work and the property owner will pay the remaining balance. The remaining balance owed by the property owner can be paid in full to the OUA or a payment plan can be established.

All connections to the OUA system must be completed by the end of February 2027, as required by Chapter 381.00655 F.S.

There are approximately 515 connections to be made in the SWSA collection system served by Vacuum Pump Stations #4 & #5. Those properties have been divided in to groups.
