Treasure Island Septic to Sewer Project Information

The Treasure Island Septic to Sewer Project focuses on mitigating the impact of nitrogen and phosphorus loadings from septic tank systems. It will allow the property owners to transition septic tanks to a centralized sewer system, significantly reducing the risk of nutrient leaching into groundwater and surface water sources. It will include the constuction of a centralized sewer system with a connection to the exisiting Cemetery Road Wastewater Treatment Plant. It will eliminate the need for future on-site septic tanks and package plant installations, providing for long-term environmental compliance and operational efficency.
Project Timeline: 2-4 years. Project is currently under design.
The goal of the OUA is to protect Lake Okeechobee's water quality while meeting the area's current and future wastewater demands.
